The Andhra Pradesh government is working on launching a new financial assistance scheme for Kapu women, named “Gruhini”. This initiative aims to provide a one-time financial aid of ₹15,000 per eligible woman as a means to promote women empowerment and financial independence within the Kapu community.
According to preliminary reports, the government is likely to earmark approximately ₹400 crore for implementing this scheme.
The 'Gruhini' scheme is a welfare initiative being proposed by the Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation. Its primary objective is to extend financial support to Kapu women across Andhra Pradesh, particularly homemakers from economically weaker sections.
This initiative is reminiscent of earlier welfare programs introduced for the Kapu community:

At a recent event in Tadepalli, Kapu Corporation Chairman Kothapalli Subbarayudu stated that the proposal has been submitted and the final decision from the government is expected soon. The announcement was made during NTR Jayanti celebrations, further emphasizing the importance of community-focused development.
He also highlighted how the Kapu Corporation, established in 2014, has consistently worked to support the community through loans, welfare schemes, and other financial assistance programs.
While the official rollout date is yet to be announced, the scheme is being actively discussed at the government level. The budgetary allocation, eligibility criteria, application process, and guidelines are expected to be released shortly.
If implemented, 'Gruhini' will be a significant step toward economic empowerment of Kapu women in Andhra Pradesh. It reflects the state’s continued efforts to uplift underrepresented communities and improve gender-inclusive welfare outcomes.
