Amaravati, Aug 25: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed housing officials to accelerate the state’s housing projects to achieve the target of 10 lakh houses by March 2026.
At a review meeting, the CM directed that:
Ongoing projects will be classified into A, B, and C categories to ensure timely completion. The CM reiterated that, as per the government’s commitment, 2 cents of land in urban areas and 3 cents in rural areas will be allotted for house sites. For larger families, joint housing units will also be considered.
The Chief Minister instructed phased release of funds for houses sanctioned under the NTR Housing Scheme.
Officials reported that Andhra Pradesh has been sanctioned 18.59 lakh houses under PMAY-Urban, PMAY-Gramin, and PM Janman, out of which 9.51 lakh units have already been completed. In Kuppam constituency, ₹16.37 crore has been disbursed to 4,647 beneficiaries, while ₹919.29 crore for 2.73 lakh beneficiaries statewide is set to be released shortly.
Housing Minister Narayana alleged that the earlier YSRCP administration disrupted the TIDCO housing projects, while Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy claimed ₹2,900 crore meant for housing the poor was diverted.
