Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced a reduction in electricity charges for consumers, describing it as a historic first for the country. From November 2025, power tariffs in the state will come down under the "True Down" mechanism.
The CM shared this update on X, stating that this relief has been made possible due to efficient management of the power sector over the last 15 months.

Power Tariff Cut: Unit price reduced by 13 paise, effective from November.
Public Benefit: Consumers will save about ₹923 crore annually through this reduction.
Power Swapping Policy: By swapping power with other states, AP avoided costly short-term purchases during peak demand.
Clean Energy Push:
Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, farmers are getting free solar power.
Under PM Suryodaya Ghar, SC & ST households are receiving free solar power connections, while BC consumers are getting subsidies of up to ₹98,000.
A 1,500 MW battery energy storage system is being established to ensure reliable supply.
Chandrababu emphasized that the coalition government has put the power sector back on track through transparency and reforms. Going forward, he said the state will implement a Clean Energy Policy to set up large-scale renewable power projects and provide cheaper electricity to people.
He concluded by stating:
"This is just the beginning of change in the power sector. In the coming years, Andhra Pradesh will witness even more remarkable results in energy management and affordability."
