The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a significant initiative under the Deepam-2 Scheme, providing 14.2 kg LPG cylinders to tribal households. Around 23,912 families across 16 districts will benefit from this program, with the government allocating ₹5.54 crore for its implementation. Each eligible household will receive three free cylinders per year.
Beneficiaries must have Aadhaar, ration card, and LPG connection details to avail the scheme.
The scheme addresses the gap for tribal families who typically use smaller 5 kg cylinders, ensuring they receive the larger 14.2 kg cylinders for household use.
The AP Cabinet approved this proposal, and orders have been issued to district collectors and LPG companies to distribute the cylinders to eligible tribal households.
The subsidy applies only if all three documents (Aadhaar, ration card, and LPG connection) match correctly.
The name on the LPG connection must correspond with the ration card. Even if the connection is in the husband's name and the ration card in the wife's, the household remains eligible.
If multiple connections exist under one ration card, the subsidy will apply to one connection only.
Beneficiaries can book cylinders online or through authorized dealers.
The government plans to provide cylinders directly without requiring any upfront payment.
Any issues can be reported via the toll-free number 1967 or at local village/ward secretariats.
Households that have not completed e-KYC verification may face delays in receiving subsidies. Authorities advise completing e-KYC promptly to receive benefits.
This initiative will help reduce the LPG burden for tribal families and ensure access to essential cooking fuel under the Deepam-2 program.
