The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a major boost for women associated with DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) groups. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, known for introducing several women empowerment programs in the past, has decided to roll out two new welfare schemes soon.
These initiatives aim to support education and marriage expenses for the children of DWCRA women by providing low-interest loans under the Stree Nidhi program.
The government plans to implement both schemes by January 2026.
Loans will be provided at a nominal interest rate of 4% (quarter interest).
Beneficiaries will receive direct credit into their bank accounts within 48 hours of approval.
Under this scheme, DWCRA women can access financial assistance to fund their children's education.
Features:
Loan amount: ₹10,000 to ₹1,00,000 (based on educational needs)
Applicable for school and college students
Interest rate: 4% per annum
Repayment: Up to 48 monthly installments
Required documents: Admission letter, institute details, and fee receipts
Funds will be directly credited to the member's bank account within 48 hours of approval
This initiative is aimed at ensuring that financial constraints do not stop children of DWCRA members from pursuing higher education.
This scheme provides financial aid for the marriage of daughters of DWCRA women.
Features:
Loan amount: ₹10,000 to ₹1,00,000 (depending on marriage expenses)
Interest rate: 4% per annum
Repayment: Up to 48 installments
Required documents: Wedding invitation, expenditure estimate, and event proof
After verification, the sanctioned amount will be deposited directly into the member's bank account
The goal is to reduce the financial burden of marriage expenses for economically weaker families.
To qualify for these schemes, applicants must:
Be a DWCRA group member for at least six months
Maintain a good repayment record on previous Stree Nidhi or bank-linked loans
Complete biometric verification as part of the approval process
The dual initiative reflects the government's commitment to empowering women through financial inclusion and welfare. By offering easy credit for education and marriage expenses, Andhra Pradesh aims to strengthen rural women's financial independence and ensure better prospects for their families.
