The Andhra Pradesh government has announced major relief for citizens dealing with inherited properties. From now on, succession property registration can be done directly at village and ward secretariats, eliminating the need to visit Mandal Revenue Offices (MROs) or Sub-Registrar Offices.
Simplified Process: Heirs can apply for property transfer locally at their village/ward secretariat.
Low Stamp Duty:
If the market value of the inherited property is below ₹10 lakh, only ₹100 will be charged.
If the value is above ₹10 lakh, the fee is just ₹1,000.
Required Documents: Death certificate of the owner, legal heir certificate, Aadhaar of heirs, property documents, and recent Encumbrance Certificate (EC).
Ownership Transfer: Once documents are verified, the property will be mutated and transferred to the heirs’ names, and updated property passbooks will be issued.
This reform is expected to save people both time and money, as the usual 4–5% stamp duty charges no longer apply for succession cases. By bringing registration services to local secretariats, the government aims to make property transfer after the death of an owner hassle-free, transparent, and affordable.
