The Andhra Pradesh government has rolled out major support for dairy farmers by offering huge subsidies on fodder seeds and cattle feed, along with free vaccination and health care for livestock. These initiatives are aimed at reducing the financial burden on farmers while ensuring healthier cattle and better milk production.
Farmers across the state can now avail hybrid sorghum and maize seeds at 75% subsidy:
A 5 kg sorghum seed pack costs ₹460, but farmers pay only ₹115.
A 5 kg maize seed pack costs ₹340, with farmers paying just ₹85.
Each farmer can get between 5 to 20 kg of seeds under this scheme.
The government is also providing 50% subsidy on compounded cattle feed:
A 50 kg bag is priced at ₹1,110, but farmers pay only ₹555.
Each farmer can receive between 1 to 1.5 quintals of feed.
Free vaccination, deworming medicines, and regular health check-ups for cattle.
Mini Gokulam sheds are being sanctioned with 100% subsidy.
District-wise requirements for fodder are being identified and supplied accordingly.
Eligible farmers need to visit their nearest Rythu Seva Kendra (Farmers’ Service Center) with a pattadar passbook and Aadhaar card copy.
Currently, the Animal Husbandry Department is conducting a statewide survey (till September 15) to assess the needs of dairy farmers, including loans and insurance.
