Free Distribution of Smart Ration Cards to Begin Across Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch the free distribution of Smart Ration Cards to households across the state starting August 25, 2025. The new initiative will be carried out in four phases, ensuring that beneficiaries receive their updated cards directly at their respective ration shops.
Phase-Wise Distribution
Phase 1 (from August 25, 2025): Distribution begins in 9 districts – Vizianagaram, NTR, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Srikakulam, East Godavari, West Godavari, and Krishna.
Phase 2 (from August 30, 2025): Distribution in Chittoor, Kakinada, Guntur.
Phase 3 (from September 6, 2025): Beneficiaries in Eluru, Ananthapuramu, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Parvathipuram Manyam, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, and Anakapalli will receive their cards.
Phase 4 (from September 15, 2025): Final distribution in Bapatla, Palnadu, Y.S.R. Kadapa, Annamayya, Sri Sathya Sai, Kurnool, Nandyal, and Prakasam.
Beneficiary Reach
A total of over 1.3 crore Smart Ration Cards are to be distributed across all districts. Each card is linked with QR code technology to ensure transparency, prevent duplication, and provide seamless access to ration benefits.
