The Andhra Pradesh government is continuing its flagship child protection initiative — the Mission Vatsalya Scheme 2025 — aimed at ensuring financial and emotional security for children who have lost one or both parents, or belong to economically weaker families.
Under this scheme, eligible children receive monthly financial assistance of ₹4,000, directly credited into their joint bank accounts with guardians. The programme, operational since April 2023, has already brought relief to thousands of vulnerable children across the state.
Mission Vatsalya focuses on children under 18 years of age who fall into one of the following categories:
Lost either one or both parents
Children of divorced or single parents facing economic hardship
Children from families below the income threshold
Must be living with a guardian or family member (not in government shelters)
The government clarified that children already residing in state-run homes, hostels or care institutions are not covered under this financial assistance scheme.
Monthly Benefit: ₹4,000 per child
Yearly Total: ₹48,000 per child
Disbursement Mode: Direct credit into the joint bank account of the child and guardian
Applicable Period: From April 2023 to January 2025 (current cycle)
Officials say the goal is not only to ensure basic sustenance but also to enable education continuity, healthcare access, and psychological support for affected children.
Applicants must submit verified documents through their local Anganwadi centres:
Child’s Birth Certificate
Death certificate (if one or both parents are deceased)
Divorce certificate (if applicable)
Guardian’s Aadhaar Card
Income and Caste Certificate
Ration Card
Bank Account Details (joint account)
Study Certificate from School

| Area Type | Annual Family Income Limit |
|---|---|
| Rural Areas | ₹72,000 or below |
| Urban Areas | ₹96,000 or below |
The scheme targets low-income households to ensure resources reach children genuinely in need of state support.
Beneficiaries can apply through the nearest Anganwadi centre under the Women Development and Child Welfare (WDCW) Department.
Anganwadi workers will help applicants complete the form, verify documents, and forward them for approval. Upon verification, eligible children are added to the beneficiary list for monthly transfers.
“The aim of Mission Vatsalya is to make sure that no child in Andhra Pradesh is deprived of basic care, nutrition, or education because of family tragedy or financial distress,” said a senior WDCW official.
The government has also extended support under the ‘After Care’ scheme for children above 18 years of age, especially those pursuing higher education and those affected by HIV/AIDS. These youths receive continued assistance to complete their studies and transition into self-reliant adulthood.

Over 25,000+ children have already benefited since 2023, according to preliminary departmental data.
The government plans to enhance outreach through district-level awareness camps and door-to-door Anganwadi verification drives in 2025.
Officials are also considering introducing digital application tracking for transparency and faster approvals.
The Mission Vatsalya Scheme 2025 stands as Andhra Pradesh’s continuing commitment to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring they grow up with dignity, education, and opportunity. With monthly financial assistance and structured care, the initiative bridges the welfare gap for thousands of children who might otherwise be left behind.
Families meeting the eligibility criteria are urged to visit their nearest Anganwadi centre and register without delay to secure benefits under this ongoing mission.
