The Andhra Pradesh government has extended the deadline for applications under the NTR Housing Scheme, providing much-needed relief to thousands of beneficiaries who are yet to complete their registration or construction. Citizens can now apply for the scheme and avail of government housing assistance till November 30, 2025.
The NTR Housing Scheme, named after former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, is one of the state's flagship welfare programmes aimed at providing permanent pucca houses to families from economically weaker sections (EWS) and below poverty line (BPL) households. The initiative runs in coordination with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to ensure universal housing coverage across rural and urban areas of Andhra Pradesh.
Under the NTR Housing Scheme, beneficiaries receive financial assistance up to ₹2.50 lakh for constructing new houses or completing existing structures. The programme is implemented through the Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation (APSHCL), with funds disbursed in four stages-foundation, walls, slab, and finishing-following site verification by officials.
The state government's goal is to ensure "Housing for All" by supporting eligible families with land ownership but inadequate financial means to build safe, durable homes.
Financial Aid: Assistance up to ₹2.50 lakh per beneficiary, including ₹1.20 lakh from the state government under NTR Housing and the remaining amount under PMAY.
Transparent Monitoring: Implementation through geo-tagging, real-time tracking, and multi-level verification to ensure accountability.
Four-Stage Fund Release: Payments are made in stages-after completion of foundation, walls, roof slab, and full construction-based on physical inspection.
Integration with PMAY: The scheme operates under the central government's Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for uniform benefits across all districts.
To qualify for assistance under the NTR Housing Scheme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Must be a resident of Andhra Pradesh.
Belong to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) or hold a White Ration Card / BPL Card.
Should not own a permanent house in their name or in the name of any family member.
Must possess land ownership documents (Patta / Pattadar Passbook / Registered title).
Applicant must be 18 years or older.
The scheme is being implemented across all 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh: Anantapur, Chittoor, East Godavari, West Godavari, Guntur, Kadapa, Krishna, Kurnool, Nellore, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram.

The state government recently extended the deadline for submission of housing applications from November 5 to November 30, 2025, following requests from district officials and beneficiary groups. Officials said this extension aims to include eligible families who could not complete registration earlier due to documentation or technical issues.
The Housing Department has instructed field officials to speed up verification and sanctioning of pending applications to ensure that no eligible family is left out of the programme.
The entire housing process is digitally monitored through the AP Housing Management System (APHMS), ensuring transparency from beneficiary selection to fund transfer. All payments are made via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to beneficiaries' bank accounts to prevent leakages or misuse.
