The Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced that senior citizens can now obtain their Senior Citizen ID cards completely free of cost. Earlier, applicants had to pay a service fee of ₹40, but this has now been waived.

These cards are being issued jointly under central and state government initiatives to provide multiple benefits to elderly citizens.

Despite the initiative, technical glitches in the application website have made it difficult for applicants to register. Many citizens report that the portal has not been functioning properly for several weeks. As a result, senior citizens visiting gram/ward secretariats, MeeSeva centers, and internet kiosks are facing delays and frustration.
Officials have assured that once the technical issues are resolved, applications will proceed smoothly. Citizens have also suggested that it would be more convenient if the government directly delivered the cards to their homes.

Senior Citizen Cards are also available through the District Office of the Department for Welfare of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens.
