The Haryana government has introduced a new compensation scheme for residents affected by dog or stray animal bites. Officially known as the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana (DAYALU-II), this initiative aims to provide financial assistance to individuals who suffer injuries, disabilities, or fatalities due to such incidents.
Under the DAYALU-II scheme, compensation is determined based on the severity of the injury and the victim's age:
Accidental Death or Permanent Disability (70% or above):
0-12 years: ₹1,00,000
12-18 years: ₹2,00,000
18-25 years: ₹3,00,000
25-45 years: ₹5,00,000
Above 45 years: ₹3,00,000
Disability Below 70%: Compensation is calculated according to the percentage of disability as per the Employees' Compensation Act, 1923, with a minimum of ₹10,000.
Minor Injuries: A fixed amount of ₹10,000 will be provided.
Dog Bite Cases:
₹10,000 for each tooth mark.
₹20,000 for every 0.2 cm of flesh torn from the skin.
To qualify for compensation under this scheme, the following conditions must be met:
The individual must be a resident of Haryana.
The family should be registered under the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) with an annual income below ₹1.8 lakh.
The incident must involve a dog or stray animal bite.
The injury must be physical and documented.
The claim must be filed within 90 days of the incident.

Medical records and disability certificate.
Photographs of the injury.
Aadhaar-linked bank account details.
District-Level Committee: Each district will have a committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner to assess and approve claims.
Processing Time: The committee is required to process claims within 120 days of submission.
Disbursement: Approved compensation will be transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account linked with the PPP database.
