The Central Government, under the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMSS) Scheme, is offering financial assistance of ₹12,000 per year to meritorious students from economically weaker sections. The scheme aims to encourage students to continue education beyond Class 8 and reduce dropout rates, especially among SC/ST students in government and model schools.
Students must have passed Class 7 in the 2024-25 academic year from government schools or model schools without hostel facilities
SC/ST students: Minimum 50% marks
Other categories: Minimum 55% marks
Parental annual income: Must not exceed ₹3.5 lakh
Eligible students currently studying Class 8 in the 2025-26 academic year can apply for this scholarship.
Amount: ₹12,000 per year (₹1,000 per month)
Duration: 4 years, from Class 8 to Intermediate
Beneficiaries in the district: 3,600 students (3,000 in government high schools, 500 in model schools, 100 in other government schools)
School Heads' Role:
Principals must login using the school's UDISE code on the NMMSS portal
Upload student details, photograph, and signature in one go for all applicants

Aadhaar card
Income certificate issued by government
Caste certificate
For differently-abled students, PHC certificate
Fees:
SC/ST and differently-abled students: ₹50
OC/BC students: ₹100
Fees to be paid online via SBI Collect and receipt attached to application

Print application, attach documents, get principal's signature and stamp, and submit at the DEO office by October 8
District Examination Officer Venkateswara Rao emphasized the importance of motivating students to apply for the scholarship. Principals are advised to guide students in mental ability and mathematics preparation to ensure higher participation. Properly verified applications with all supporting documents must be submitted to the DEO office within the stipulated time.
With the NMMSS 2025, economically disadvantaged but talented students can receive consistent financial support to pursue higher education, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic progress.
