A new rooftop solar scheme has been launched, allowing households and farmers to adopt green energy at an affordable cost. Under the initiative, consumers can begin with just ₹999, after which they can install rooftop solar panels.
According to the company’s Managing Director Sanjay Banga, the objective of Tata Power is to ensure that the use of solar energy benefits the maximum number of families across the country. “That is why we have launched the Ghar Ghar Solar Yojana for the first time, making it beneficial for all sections of society,” he said.
Banga explained that rooftop solar payments will start at just ₹999 across all states. The scheme covers multiple capacity options, including 2 kW, 3 kW, 5 kW, 8 kW, and 10 kW systems. He also stated that loans taken for solar installations can be repaid within five years, making the transition easier for households.
The Managing Director further emphasized that the monthly savings from the solar system will be sufficient to cover the EMI, making the project financially viable for families.
The scheme is designed to boost the adoption of rooftop solar energy in India, where experts believe the potential remains largely untapped. It is applicable for both residential consumers, covered under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, as well as those seeking to install systems above 5 kW capacity.
The program also extends to agricultural households, who can opt for 1 kW, 3 kW, or 5 kW systems. To make the transition smoother, the company has announced financial assistance options to ensure affordability.
Banga reiterated that the scheme would not only reduce electricity bills but also promote sustainable energy use across the country.
