The Government of India has launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan Dhan (PM-SYM) Scheme to provide social security for unorganised sector workers. With a small monthly contribution starting from ₹55, eligible workers can receive a guaranteed pension of ₹3,000 per month after the age of 60.
The main goal of PM-SYM is to ensure financial stability during old age for workers in the unorganised sector who lack access to EPF, ESIC, or other pension benefits. The scheme provides them with a regular income after retirement, ensuring a secure and dignified life.
To join the PM Shram Yogi Maan Dhan Scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:
Age Limit: 18 to 40 years
Monthly Income: ₹15,000 or less
Occupation: Should be working in the unorganised sector (such as labourers, street vendors, domestic workers, rickshaw pullers, etc.)
Should not be a member of EPF, ESIC, or NPS
Should not be an income tax payer
The contribution amount depends on the subscriber’s age at the time of joining:
| Age at Entry | Monthly Contribution | Government Contribution |
|---|---|---|
| 18 years | ₹55 | ₹55 |
| 29 years | ₹100 | ₹100 |
| 40 years | ₹200 | ₹200 |
The Central Government matches the same contribution made by the subscriber, making it a 50:50 partnership.
Monthly Pension: ₹3,000 per month after 60 years of age
Spouse Benefit: If the subscriber dies after 60, the spouse will receive 50% of the pension as a family pension.
Premature Exit Option:
If the subscriber exits before 10 years, the total contribution plus savings bank interest will be refunded.
If exited after 10 years but before 60, the total contribution plus interest earned by the fund will be returned.
Government Support: Equal contribution by the Government throughout the subscription period.
Eligible candidates can easily register through Common Service Centres (CSCs) across India.
