The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has continued its focus on educational inclusion with the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI) for the academic year 2025. The scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to students belonging to OBC, EBC, and Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT/NT/SNT), helping them continue their education without financial barriers.
Launched as part of the government's broader mission to promote education among socially and economically disadvantaged communities, the scheme offers scholarships across multiple levels-from Class 9 to higher education.
The PM YASASVI Scheme is a central scholarship initiative aimed at supporting meritorious students from economically weaker households. The programme offers financial aid to ensure students can pursue school and college education without dropping out due to lack of funds.
Notably, the government has removed the earlier entrance exam requirement. Selection is now merit-based, determined by the marks in the previous qualifying examination.
The government aims to:
Reduce school dropout rates among students from OBC, EBC, and DNT/NT/SNT groups
Provide financial support to help students manage academic expenses
Improve access to quality education for disadvantaged families
Empower students to become financially independent and academically competitive
