The Delhi Government has announced that the existing pink ticket system for free bus travel for women in Delhi will soon be discontinued. Currently, women can travel free of cost in buses operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation by collecting a pink ticket from the conductor. However, this facility will be replaced with a new card-based system.

The government officially launched the Pink Saheli Card on March 2. This new card is based on the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) platform and will enable eligible women to continue availing free bus travel across Delhi.
The benefit will now be limited strictly to women residing in Delhi. Only those holding a Delhi Aadhaar card will be eligible to apply. Women from other states will no longer be able to avail free bus travel once the pink ticket system is withdrawn.
Girls aged five years and above are eligible to apply for the Pink Saheli Card. Applicants must carry their Aadhaar card along with the mobile phone number linked to Aadhaar, as OTP verification will be required during the registration process.
The Pink Saheli Card is being issued through offline mode only. The Delhi Government has set up 50 centers across the city for card issuance. These include Deputy Commissioner offices, SDM offices, and multiple DTC bus depots and pass sections.
The card will be issued free of cost for the first time. However, in case of loss, a replacement fee ranging between ₹150 and ₹200 may be charged as per government provisions.
Women can continue to avail free travel using pink tickets until the system is fully phased out. Once discontinued, the Pink Saheli Card will become mandatory for free bus travel in Delhi.
