The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced a special Vyaj Mafi (Interest Waiver) Incentive Scheme 2024-25 to encourage property owners to clear their pending property tax dues. The scheme offers up to 100% waiver on interest for old tax arrears if the payment is made within the announced period.
The civic body has launched this initiative to help taxpayers settle their outstanding dues while reducing the financial burden caused by accumulated interest penalties.
The interest waiver scheme will be available from 1 March 2025 to 31 March 2025. Property owners who clear their dues during this period will be eligible for significant relief on interest charges.
100% interest waiver on old pending property tax dues.
Relief on interest accumulated up to financial year 2024-25.
Applicable to both residential and non-residential properties.
Opportunity for taxpayers to clear long-pending property tax with minimal penalty.
During the scheme period, the interest relief will be provided as follows:
Old dues – Residential properties: 100% interest waiver
Old dues – Non-residential properties: 100% interest waiver
New dues – Residential properties: 54% interest waiver
New dues – Non-residential properties: 40% interest waiver
AMC has also urged housing societies and apartment associations to ensure that property tax dues of all members are cleared during the scheme period so that residents can benefit from the maximum available waiver.
Property owners are advised to update their mobile number and property details in AMC records while making the payment. It is also important to note that the scheme applies only to interest penalties, and the principal tax amount must still be paid in full.
The civic body has emphasized that taxpayers should make use of this limited-period scheme before 31 March 2025 to avoid paying heavy interest penalties later.
