In a major step towards digital governance, the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) has launched an online facility for booking houses and plots, making home ownership easier for poor and middle-income families. This initiative aligns with both the State Housing Board schemes and the Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
On December 4, the Tamil Nadu Government allocated ₹76 crore to reduce the cost burden on beneficiaries under Urban Housing Board schemes. Under these schemes, the State and Central Governments together provide up to 90% financial assistance, while beneficiaries are required to contribute only 10%.
To help people who struggle to arrange even this remaining amount, the government has stepped in with financial support, enabling many families to own a house without taking bank loans.
Earlier, applicants had to visit TNHB divisional offices in person to enquire about available houses or plots. This often led to delays and complaints regarding lack of cooperation. To address these issues, TNHB has now introduced a dedicated online booking portal.

Through this platform, interested buyers can:
View complete project details
Check location and price information
Register interest in houses or plots online
Applicants only need to submit basic details such as name, address, email ID, and mobile number.
Once registered, TNHB Sales Division officials will directly contact applicants and guide them through the entire process - from property selection to reservation and further procedures. The portal has been designed exclusively for the sale of TNHB houses and plots, ensuring clarity and transparency.
Property buyers usually have to verify ownership documents, land approvals, encumbrance certificates, layout permissions, building approvals, and RERA registration. TNHB projects already comply with all government norms, offering buyers legal security and peace of mind.
The new online system minimizes the need for repeated office visits and ensures that accurate information is available directly from official sources.
With this initiative, the Tamil Nadu Housing Board aims to:
Reduce public inconvenience
Eliminate information gaps
Ensure transparency in property sales
Simplify the home-buying process
This digital move is being welcomed by the public and is expected to significantly improve trust and efficiency in TNHB housing schemes.
TNHB's online booking system marks a major milestone in making affordable housing accessible, transparent, and citizen-friendly.
