CM Revanth Reddy Announces Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme for Students

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced a major new initiative for students in the state - the CM Breakfast Scheme, inspired by Tamil Nadu's successful model. Speaking at an event in Chennai titled "Tamil Nadu Leading in Education", the Telangana CM praised Tamil Nadu's efforts in public education and confirmed that Telangana will launch a similar breakfast program from next year.

Inspired by Tamil Nadu's Model

During his address at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Revanth Reddy said that the Tamil Nadu CM Breakfast Scheme deeply moved him, describing it as "a program that truly touches hearts." He added that Telangana, too, would soon implement this initiative to ensure that every child studying in government schools starts the day with a nutritious breakfast.

He lauded Tamil Nadu's history of educational reforms under leaders like Kamaraj, Annadurai, and Karunanidhi, crediting their vision for shaping modern India's approach to education. He also congratulated CM M.K. Stalin and Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for continuing this legacy.

Early Childhood Education in Government Schools

In a move aimed at bringing government schools on par with private institutions, the CM announced that nursery, LKG, and UKG classes will soon be introduced in Telangana's government schools.

Additionally, the state will provide free transport facilities for school pickup and drop-off to make education more accessible to children from all backgrounds.

Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that these steps would become a "game changer" in Telangana's education sector.

New Skill and Higher Education Initiatives

The Chief Minister highlighted that Telangana is giving top priority to skill-based education. Under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the government has established the Young India Skill University, aimed at improving employability among engineering and diploma graduates.

He noted that every year, over 1.1 lakh engineering students graduate from Telangana, but many face employment challenges due to lack of practical skills. The new university - with industrialist Anand Mahindra as its Chairman - will bridge that gap by providing hands-on training and certification.

He also mentioned the formation of Young India Integrated Schools and Young India Sports University, designed to promote sports excellence and prepare athletes to win medals at upcoming Olympic Games.

Educational and Cultural Ties with Tamil Nadu

Revanth Reddy emphasized the strong cultural and historical bonds between Telangana and Tamil Nadu, noting that both states have been pioneers in social justice, education, and welfare programs.

He acknowledged Tamil Nadu's leadership in launching India's first Mid-Day Meal Scheme, which later inspired nationwide implementation.

The CM said Telangana views its spending on education as a long-term investment in the future generations, not as expenditure.

He concluded by congratulating CM Stalin and affirming Telangana's commitment to continue cooperation with Tamil Nadu in the field of education and youth development.
