Measures to Ensure Timely Benefits under Cheyutha Pension Scheme: District Collector Sandeep Kumar J.
Rajanna Sirisilla, September 11:
District Collector Sandeep Kumar J. emphasized that appropriate steps must be taken to ensure eligible beneficiaries receive the Cheyutha Pension Scheme benefits promptly. On Thursday, he participated in an awareness program on pensions at the Integrated District Collectorate auditorium. The program included detailed presentations by Director SERP Gopal through PPTs.
Key Points Highlighted by the District Collector:
The government provides pensions to senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, people living with HIV, widows, deserted women, Gita and beedi workers, single women, dialysis and filaria patients.
If a pension recipient passes away, the spouse should immediately receive the pension without disruption.
Panchayat Secretaries must maintain two registers in every village: one for currently approved beneficiaries and another for eligible applicants.
Birth and death certificates must be meticulously recorded. Panchayat Secretaries can issue certificates locally within six months; beyond that, only the Revenue Division officer can issue them.
Under the National Family Benefit Scheme, a one-time assistance of ₹20,000 is provided to poor families if the earning member aged 18–59 dies.
Tehsildars should thoroughly verify applications and submit reports to the RDO. Documents such as Aadhaar card, bank passbook, ration card, and caste certificate must be checked.
The program was attended by Director SERP Gopal, District Rural Development Officer Sheshadri, MPDOs, Municipal Commissioners, Panchayat Secretaries, Ward Officers, Postal Staff, and other officials.
The Telangana Government has launched the Cheyutha Scheme to provide financial assistance (pensions) to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, widows, single women, disabled persons, bidi workers, dialysis patients, AIDS patients, and low-paid non-teaching staff.
Applications can be obtained from Prajapalana centres, Gram Panchayat offices, Mandal Parishad offices, and Municipal offices.
