Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project – Phase II & III at Gandipet, Rangareddy district. The project, with an investment of ₹7,360 crores, aims to ensure long-term drinking water security for Hyderabad and surrounding urban areas.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that Hyderabad’s rapid urbanization and population growth demand sustainable water solutions. He assured that with the completion of this project, the drinking water needs of Hyderabad will be secured for the next 50 years.

Water Allocation: 1,750 TMC, with 20 TMC earmarked for this phase

Revanth Reddy reiterated the government’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and uninterrupted drinking water to all households in Hyderabad. He noted that this project would not only benefit the city but also surrounding municipalities, which often face water shortages.
He also highlighted that the project is part of the government’s larger mission to make Hyderabad a global city with world-class infrastructure, ensuring water security for industries, IT hubs, and residents alike.
The foundation stone program witnessed the participation of senior ministers, legislators, and officials. The Chief Minister stated that this project reflects the government’s dedication to sustainable urban development and assured timely completion of works.
With an investment of over ₹7,360 crores, the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project – Phase II & III is poised to be one of the largest urban water projects in India. Once completed, it will provide a lifeline to Hyderabad, meeting the growing demands of the expanding city and securing water availability for decades to come.
