Telangana Govt Employees Accident Insurance Scheme 2026 – ₹1.20 Crore Cover Approved

Cabinet Approves Landmark Welfare Schemes

The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has approved two major welfare initiatives for state government employees and pensioners. The decisions include a ₹1.20 crore Accident Insurance Scheme and a comprehensive health scheme backed by a ₹1,056 crore corpus fund.

The announcement was made after a cabinet meeting held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad.

₹1.20 Crore Accident Insurance Without Employee Premium

Under the newly approved Telangana Government Employees Accident Insurance Scheme, employees and pensioners will receive accident coverage of ₹1.20 crore in case of death due to an accident.

Importantly, employees will not be required to pay any premium. The state government will implement the scheme through banking institutions without placing any financial burden on employees.

The government earlier implemented similar insurance models in Singareni and Transco successfully before expanding it statewide.

₹10 Lakh Term Insurance for Natural Death

The cabinet also approved a ₹10 lakh term insurance benefit for employees up to 60 years of age in case of natural death. This provision aims to provide additional financial security to families of government staff.

7.57 Lakh Beneficiaries to Be Covered

The scheme will benefit approximately 7.57 lakh individuals across Telangana. This includes 5.19 lakh regular government employees working in government departments, corporations, and public sector institutions, along with 2.38 lakh pensioners.

₹1,056 Crore Health Scheme with Cashless Treatment

In another major decision, the cabinet approved a dedicated health scheme for employees and pensioners with a corpus fund of ₹1,056 crore.

The scheme will provide cashless treatment for 1,998 diseases across 652 empanelled private and corporate hospitals. This move is expected to significantly reduce out-of-pocket medical expenses for government staff and retirees.

Assembly Session and Budget Announcement

The Telangana Legislative Assembly session will commence on March 16. The Governor will address both Houses on the opening day, and the state budget will be presented on March 20.

These cabinet decisions mark a significant step toward strengthening social security and healthcare protection for government employees and pensioners in Telangana.
