The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has launched its biggest electricity bill relief initiative, the Bijli Bill Rahat Yojna 2025-26, offering major concessions to domestic and commercial consumers across the state. The scheme will run from 1 December 2025 to 28 February 2026, and applications begin immediately.
The scheme provides 100% waiver on surcharge and interest for pending electricity bills, along with a substantial rebate of up to 25% on the principal amount. Officials said this is the first time such a large-scale waiver has been introduced for both rural and urban consumers.
The relief scheme covers:
Domestic Consumers with load up to 2 kW
Commercial Consumers with 1 kW load
Up to 25% rebate on the principal dues
100% waiver on surcharge/interest
Option to pay remaining dues in small, easy installments
Automatic correction of inflated bills based on average consumption
Relief and exemption from legal proceedings in electricity theft-related cases
Authorities said the initiative aims to help consumers who have been struggling with high outstanding bills, inflated bills, and legal complications.

A registration fee of ₹2,000 is required, which will be later adjusted in the consumer’s bill.
